new Delhi . The Supreme Court has cleared the new dates for the elections of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). Now the DDCA elections will be held from November 5 to 8.
Earlier this election was to be held from October 17 to 20 but Election Officer Naveen B. Chawla postponed the elections due to the controversy following the advice of DDCA Lokpal Deepak Verma.
The election process will start from where it stopped on October 10. On this day, the candidates were to withdraw their names by three o’clock in the day, but the notice to postpone the election came at 2:30.
Now those who have filed their nominations can withdraw their names on October 17 between 11 am to 1 pm. On this day, the final list of candidates will be released by 4 pm. Elections for the post of president, treasurer and four directors are to be held from November 5 to 8.
“The Supreme Court has approved the new dates for the DDCA elections after an out-of-court consensus has been reached. Pramod Jain and I have withdrawn the special leave petition that was put in the Supreme Court.”
Separate tabo filed affidavits in the Supreme Court in this regard.
The officials took care of Navratri and Dussehra while choosing new dates for elections. In these four-day elections, votes will be cast every day between 11 am and 5 pm. The votes will be counted on November 9 and the results will be announced on this day.
Former Union Minister and Arun Jaitley’s son Rohan Jaitley, who was the president of DDCA for 14 years, is certain to be elected president. There is consensus among all the sections regarding his name. The two groups are directly face to face for the rest of the positions.
One group belongs to Manchanda, Vinod Tihara and Bansal while the other faction is C.K. Khanna’s wife Shashi Khanna is contesting for the post of treasurer.
