New Delhi India is to visit Australia next month. The Indian team is scheduled to stay in Queensland for 14 days before the start of the series and the Queensland Health Department has indicated that the Indian team’s mandatory quarantine protocol may be relaxed.
A spokesman for the Queensland Health Department has confirmed this. The spokesman has said that he has received an application from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCCI) to consider the quarantine.
It is believed that the BCCI wants a concession in the 14-day quarantine period through its application. If the Indian team stays in the 14-day quarantine, then they will be unable to play the practice match before the limited overs series. According to the expected schedule, India has to start the ODI series from 14 November.
“The Queensland Health Department is currently reviewing an application received by the Indian cricket team. We will work closely with the team as we move forward on this,” the spokesperson said.
The Queensland Health Department were asked questions about the quarantine period and a possible one practice match before the ODI series. However, the spokesperson did not elaborate on this.
Cricket Australia (CA) has not yet released the official schedule for the home series to be held with India later this year.
The first tour of India will be Australia’s tour after the end of IPL-13 on 10 November. On that tour, the Indian team has to play three ODIs, three T20s and a four-match Test series from 25 November to 19 January 2021.
According to the rules, people from outside have to stay in Quarantine compulsorily for 14 days in Queensland. This means that the Indian team will not be able to play their practice match before the start of the ODI series.
It is believed that the Queensland Health Department may view Elite Sports from a slightly different perspective than the general public. If that happens, the practice match can be included in India’s schedule, but with a standard operating procedure as seen in the sports world these days.
Compared to elite class players, the Queensland government has imposed strict border restrictions for general members coming from hotspot areas.
The statement issued on the Queensland government website stated, “The ban means that people living in a Kovid-19 hotspot within the last 14 days will be away from our border. This applies to all those in the last 14 Have been in a Kovid-19 hotspot. “
