new Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized on making India a knowledge economy in the 21st century. He has said that in the 21st century too, we are trying to make India a knowledge economy. The new education policy has opened the way for the establishment of good international institutions’ campuses in India to prevent talent migration and also for youth from ordinary families. The Prime Minister suggested the Governors and Vice Chancellors to hold maximum virtual conferences in universities and colleges of their states and discuss the new education policy. So that people can understand this policy better. Prime Minister Modi explained the full blueprint of the new National Education Policy in a virtual conference of Governors and Vice Chancellors on Monday. The new education policy, he said, focuses on learning rather than reading and goes beyond the curriculum and emphasizes critical thinking. This policy emphasizes more passion, practicality and performance than process.
Prime Minister Modi described the new education policy as preparing the youth of the country for future needs. He said, today the world is discussing about the fast changing jobs, nature of work. This policy will prepare the youth of the country on both the knowledge and skills front as per the future requirements. Prime Minister Modi said that the new education policy also focuses on basic learning and language. It also has a focus on learning outcomes and teachers training. It has also made extensive reforms regarding access and evaluation. It shows the way to empower every student.
Prime Minister Modi while addressing the questions arising about the implementation of the new National Education Policy said that when there are so many major changes in any system, some doubts and apprehensions are natural. Parents would think that if the children get this much freedom, if the streams end, then how will they get admission in college, what will happen to the career? Professors, teachers will have questions in their mind that how will they be able to prepare themselves for this change? How will such a course be managed?
Prime Minister Modi said, all of you will also have many questions, on which you are also discussing. All these questions are important, everyone is working together to solve every question. There is a continuous dialogue from the Ministry of Education. The entire talk of every stakeholder in the states, every opinion is being heard with an open mind. After all, all of us have to solve all the doubts and apprehensions together. Prime Minister Modi said that this education policy is not the education policy of the government. This is the education policy of the country. Just as foreign policy is the policy of the country, defense policy is the policy of the country, similarly education policy is also the policy of the country. He said that any system can be as effective and inclusive as its governance model. This thinking also reflects the policy related to education.
