new Delhi. Veteran batsman Suresh Raina withdrew from franchise team Chennai Super Kings just before the 13th season of the Indian Premier League to be held in the UAE. A lot of talk came out of the tournament and many veterans gave their opinion about it. Gautam Gambhir, who played alongside former Indian opener and Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has also given his opinion ahead of the tournament.
Gambhir believes that now that Raina has withdrawn from the tournament this time and has returned to India, the responsibility has increased on Dhoni. He clearly said that now the captain will have to come up and play in the batting order so that Raina’s deficiency can be made up.
On the Star Sports show Cricket Connected, Gambhir said, “This will be a great opportunity for Mahendra Singh Dhoni to come forward and bat at number three because he has been away from cricket all year. By doing this, he should be playing more and more balls And he will be able to play the role of a match runner. It will be similar to what he had done for India for many years. ”
Suresh Raina and Mahendra Singh Dhoni said goodbye to international cricket together on 15 August. Now both the players had a chance to play here freely but due to personal reasons Raina decided to withdraw from the tournament. After Raina’s departure, Dhoni’s responsibility in the batting order has increased.
“If MS Dhoni comes in at number three, he has a lot of depth in batting. Then there are Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo, Sam Curran and a lot of players who come to bat behind him. That is why I think it is M.S. It’s going to be a great opportunity for a player like Dhoni. ”
“I am sure he will take full advantage of this. If Suresh Raina is not there now, you will need experience while batting at number three, so now MS Dhoni should be in that place.”
