Jaipur. Rajasthan MLA Rajendra Guda said here on Sunday that Sanjay Jain, an accused in the horse-trading case, approached him a few months ago and also asked him to meet former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
Guda has joined the Congress along with five other BSP MLAs.
Guda said, “Jain wanted to introduce me to BJP MLAs. He also asked me to meet Vasundhara Raje. At that time we did not join Congress and we were as BSP MLAs.” He said that the BJP had started a long-term conspiracy to topple the Congress government.
Lokesh Sharma, the OSD of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, released three audio clips two days ago, which allegedly involved conversations between Congress MLA Bhanwarlal Sharma, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Jain related to horse-trading.
Guda confirmed that he is with the Gehlot government. He said, “Our government will prove a majority in the House, because it has the numbers.”
The Congress government has been facing a major crisis since the revolt of Sachin Pilot. Pilot had announced that the Gehlot government was in the minority as he had the support of 30 MLAs.
Since then, the MLAs of the Gehlot camp have camped in a five-star hotel, while the MLAs of the Pilot camp are reportedly staying in various hotels in Delhi after leaving Manesar.
BSP chief Mayawati on Saturday accused the Gehlot government of breaking six BSP MLAs and demanded imposition of President’s rule in Rajasthan.
He had said that Gehlot had cheated the BSP and inducted six of its MLAs into the Congress a few months ago.
Mayawati said, “Gehlot is accusing the BJP of breaking his MLAs, but he himself has done the same thing by breaking six BSP MLAs in Rajasthan.”
He alleged that Gehlot has openly violated the anti-defection law and betrayed the BSP for a second time. He inducted BSP MLAs into Congress. He demanded, “Governor Kalraj Mishra should take cognizance of the political instability in the state and recommend President’s rule.
