Unnao. A young man, upset with his wife who was ill for three years, not getting well despite continuous treatment, damaged the Shivling of four temples including the famous Billeshwar Mahadev of the Dwapar period and the idol of the goddess in one temple with an axe. The police have taken the accused into custody.
The Shivling that was broken in the Shiv temple located in Bihar region was re-installed and worship was performed. Pankaj Kumar reached the famous Billeshwar temple of the Dwapar period located some distance away from Purva town on Wednesday morning to worship. Seeing the broken Shivling, he informed other people.
People protested
SDM Udit Narayan Sengar, CO Ajay Singh and Kotwal Rakesh Gupta reached and investigated. Angry people protested at the tehsil headquarters. Meanwhile, it was found that the Shivling of the Shiva temple in Salethu village of Purva, the Shivling of the approximately five hundred year old Bankhandeshwar Mahadev located in village Sijni Sohramau of Bihar region and the Shivling of the Narmadeshwar Mahadev temple located next to it and the idol of Sheetla Mata in another goddess temple of Purva were broken. When the police investigated, it was found that Awadhesh Kumar had done this.
The man’s wife was ill for three years
Awadhesh told the police that his wife was ill for three years. She goes to temples and offers water to get well, but is not getting well. In this trouble, he went to the Shiv temple of Salethu at six in the morning, then Billeshwar temple at seven and after that went to Vankhandeshwar, Narmadeshwar and two other temples in Bihar region and broke the Shivling with an axe.
