The third and final match of the three-match T20 series between the women’s teams of India and West Indies was played at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy. In the match, Team India won the series by 60 runs. Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh’s stormy innings contributed significantly in giving India the victory.
Smriti Mandhana, who was captaining the match, scored 77 runs in 47 balls with the help of 13 fours and 1 six. Apart from this, wicketkeeper batsman Richa Ghosh scored 54 runs in 21 balls with the help of 3 fours and sixes. With this win, Team India won the three-match T20 series 2-1.
In the match, West Indies won the toss and decided to bowl, which proved wrong for them. Batting first, Team India put 217/4 runs on the board in 20 overs. Captain Smriti Mandhana played the biggest innings for the team. Apart from this, Richa Ghosh made a significant contribution and scored runs at a strike rate of 257.14.
West Indies flopped in run chase
The West Indies team, which came on the field for a huge run chase of 218 runs, appeared to be a complete flop. The team could not get a good start. While chasing the runs, West Indies lost the first wicket in the form of Kiana Joseph at a score of 20 runs. Then the team got the second blow at 57 runs and the third at 62 runs. Then the team also lost the fourth wicket before 100 runs. The fourth blow to the team came in the 12th over at 96 runs.
After this, West Indies lost the fifth wicket in the 15th over at 129 runs. From here, West Indies lost wickets quickly. The team got the sixth blow at 136 runs, the seventh at 137 runs, the eighth at 142 runs and the ninth wicket at 147 runs. The team was all out for 157/9 runs in 20 overs.
