Bareilly. Accountant Manish Kashyap was kidnapped and murdered. His skeleton and clothes were recovered from the drain on Sunday afternoon. Police is questioning an accused to find out why he was murdered.
Apart from this, Manish’s family said that he was about to expose a 250 bigha land scam in Khalpur village. He was kidnapped on the day he was to submit the report. The district administration conducted an investigation on this, in which ADM Dinesh Kumar said that no scam was confirmed.
Manish Kashyap had gone missing
Manish Kashyap was an accountant in Faridpur tehsil. On the evening of November 27, he left the tehsil with a bag (bag of documents) but did not reach home. The next day, his family members who reached the police station alleged that some people in Khalpur village were threatening Manish. He was about to expose a land scam. A week ago, he told the family members that some officers are angry with him for exposing the scam and so are preparing to transfer him. The relatives met DM Ravindra Kumar after making several such serious allegations. After which an investigation was conducted, but no case of encroachment on government land or scam in Khalpur village was proved.
FIR was registered for kidnapping
After this, on the basis of the complaint of Manish’s mother Morkali, an FIR was registered for kidnapping against unknown persons. She suspected collusion with the Faridpur police station, so the SSP handed over the investigation to Fatehganj West Inspector.
According to the police, on the basis of Manish’s mobile phone and some other clues, a youth from Mirzapur village adjacent to the city was arrested on Saturday. He admitted that on November 27, while leaving Faridpur, Manish was dragged into an Ertiga car. He was kidnapped and held hostage. There was a plan to extract ransom from his relatives, but when he feared getting caught, he strangled him to death. On his information, the skeleton and Manish’s clothes were recovered from the drain of Mirzapur village.
DNA of the dead body will be done for confirmation
SSP Anurag Arya said that it was revealed from the arrested youth that the dead body was of Manish. We will also conduct a DNA test to confirm this. He is being questioned to know the reason behind the incident. The accountant’s burnt bag and some half-burnt forms have also been recovered from his house.
