India defeated South Africa by 11 runs in the third T20 match. The biggest hero of Team India’s victory was Tilak Verma, who played an unbeaten innings of 107 runs. Now Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav, along with praising his team’s performance, has also revealed the secret of Tilak Verma’s century innings. Surya has told how Tilak had urged him to bat at number-3.
Tilak Verma was chosen as the Player of the Match for his century innings. Suryakumar Yadav revealed in the post-match presentation, “After the second T20 match in Gakberha, Tilak came to my room and said, ‘Give me a chance at number-3, I want to do well.’ I replied that go and prove yourself. I have lived up to the work he asked me to do. I am happy for Tilak and his family.” Century came after a year of struggle
Tilak Verma has so far scored 496 runs in 19 T20 matches for India. He also has a century and two half-century innings to his name. But it is worth noting that Tilak had batted in eight innings after October last year, but he was not able to score a fifty, let alone a century. He scored a half-century against Bangladesh in October 2023. After that, for the first time Tilak has crossed the 50-run mark, not only 50 but also scored the first T20 century of his career.
India cannot lose the series now
After winning the third match, Team India is now ahead 2-1 in the four-match T20 series. India won the first match by 61 runs, while in the second clash, Team India had to face defeat by 3 wickets. Now, thanks to Tilak Verma’s century, Abhishek Sharma’s fifty and Arshdeep Singh’s lethal bowling, India has managed to take a 2-1 lead in the series. Since the series is of four matches, now at most the series can be a draw but India cannot lose.
