Team India recently played a three-match Test series against New Zealand. Team India had to face a 0-3 defeat in the series. This was the first time in Indian cricket history that Team India was whitewashed by a team in a three-match Test series on home soil. Now after this embarrassing defeat, Team India’s wicketkeeper batsman suddenly announced his retirement.
India’s star wicketkeeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha, who is playing in the Ranji Trophy for Bengal, announced his retirement through social media. Saha told that this time he is playing the last Ranji season of his career. He played the last match for Team India in 2021.
After the retirement of former captain MS Dhoni, Saha was seen as the permanent wicketkeeper of the Indian Test team for some time. However, then in 2021, the Indian team management decided to remove Saha from the team and KS Bharat started being selected as backup for Rishabh Pant. However, now Bharat is also almost out of Team India’s setup. These days Dhruv Jurel is seen as Pant’s backup in Test Team India.
Saha announced to play the last season on social media
In a post shared on social media, Saha wrote, “After a memorable journey in cricket, this season will be my last. I am honored to represent Bengal for the last time, playing only in Ranji Trophy before retiring. Let’s make this season memorable.”
