Hyderabad: Kannada director Guruprasad, best known for films like Maata and Eddelu Manjunatha, was found dead in his Bengaluru flat, with initial reports indicating that he committed suicide. The news came to light after neighbours reported a foul smell coming from his apartment. Authorities suspect he died days ago, though investigations are on.
The 52-year-old director’s death is being treated as a suicide, though officials are still investigating the exact cause. According to reports, neighbours in the Madanayakanahalli apartment complex informed the police about a foul smell coming from the filmmaker’s house. Upon entering the flat, officials found Guruprasad’s decomposed body, indicating he may have died days ago. According to reports, Guruprasad was reportedly going through a financial crisis. He was also accused of making unpaid purchases. Apart from this, the director had recently got married for the second time and was facing personal and financial difficulties. A forensic team along with the police conducted a meticulous investigation to try and gather evidence about the circumstances surrounding his death. Guruprasad’s body has been sent for post-mortem and the investigation into the case will continue.
Guruprasad was an important figure in the Kannada film industry, known for bringing a social angle to his work. His filmography includes influential films like Yeradanasala and Director Special, and he acted in more than ten films. His sudden death has left the film industry in mourning. The news has also sent a wave of grief among his fans.
