Kannauj. The shocking act of Inspector Ramkripal, who was suspended after an audio of him demanding five kilos of potatoes in bribe went viral, has come to light. The suspended inspector used to use the words potato and ghee as codewords to collect bribes.
In the name of reconciling with the complainants, he used to call on mobile phones and ask them to bring potatoes and ghee by the kilo. One kilo of potatoes meant one thousand rupees and one kilo of ghee meant 10 thousand rupees as bribe.
Rahul Rathore, a resident of Shivsinghpur village of Saurikh police station area, has a junk shop. Younger brother Vipin Kumar used to work in Delhi. Vipin came to the village on August 5. He had a dispute with his mother Munni Devi and brother Rahul over property division. Vipin gave a complaint of assault against his elder brother Rahul to Chapunna outpost in-charge Ramkripal. After this, he went straight to Delhi from the outpost.
On August 6, Inspector Ramkripal called Rahul to the outpost and explained to him that one kilo of potatoes meant one thousand rupees. He will settle the matter if Rahul is given Rs. 5000 for 5 kg of potatoes. On hearing this, Rahul returned home. On August 8, the inspector called Rahul and asked him to bring 5 kg of potatoes, but Rahul expressed his inability and pleaded to settle for 2 kg of potatoes.
The inspector made his mother Munni Devi write a settlement letter in the matter of the younger son giving a complaint in the application. After this audio became popular, SP Amit Kumar Anand suspended inspector Ramkripal on Friday.
The victim’s mother told that the inspector used to demand a bribe of Rs. 5000 from the son in the name of 5 kg of potatoes. A settlement was reached after giving Rs. 2000. The SP told that the outpost in-charge Ramkripal has been suspended in the case. The entire matter is being investigated.
He took 5 kg of ghee along with a bucket on the pretext of filing the report
Inspector Ramkripal also took bribe from farmer Chandrabhan, a resident of Udailapur village of Chapunna outpost. Farmer Chandrabhan says that his solar panel and tubewell equipment were stolen a month ago. On giving a complaint in the police station, the inspector told him that one kilo of ghee meant 10 thousand rupees.
The inspector demanded five kilos of ghee from him. He could not understand anything and reached the police station with five kilos of ghee. The inspector took the entire ghee along with the bucket and said that bring 20 thousand rupees only then the report will be registered. Later, he registered a report of the case on the order of the SP.
The suspended inspector said, he had asked for potatoes as a joke
The SP handed over the investigation of the case to CO City Kamlesh Kumar. On being questioned by the CO City, the suspended inspector said that he had asked for five kilos of potatoes from Rahul Rathore as a joke. His intention was not to take bribe. The CO said that the entire case will be investigated and handed over to the SP soon.
Rahul left the village fearing action
After circulating the audio, Rahul went to his in-laws’ house in Sikandra, Auraiya with his wife. The mother said that the son is afraid that the police might take some action against him. Due to this, the son left the village with his wife.
