T20 World Cup 2024 is over, in which India won the title. Now the next ICC tournament will be played as Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan is the host of the Champions Trophy and till now no information has come from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about whether Team India will tour Pakistan for the ICC tournament or not. Now on this, former Pakistan star Salman Butt said that it would be the responsibility of the ICC for India to come to Pakistan.
After winning the 2024 T20 World Cup title, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had said that his next target is the World Test Championship and the Champions Trophy. However, regarding the Champions Trophy, the BCCI Secretary did not clarify whether Team India would tour Pakistan for the tournament or not.
Meanwhile, Salman Butt said that it would be the responsibility of the ICC to bring all the teams to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Butt said, “We try to sensationalise everything. Some reports have said that Jay Shah has given a positive signal. However, I do not think he has given any signal. Even if there was a signal from him, I would not be excited because it is the ICC’s job to ensure that all teams come to Pakistan.”
The former Pakistani player further said, “If he comes, he is welcome. If he does not come, the ICC will have to deal with it. We will see if he can do the same with the rest of the countries or do the same with India. This will show how much authority he has as a regulator and how neutral he can be.”
Pakistan team came to India for the ODI World Cup
Let us tell you that the Pakistan team came to India on a tour in the ODI World Cup played in 2023. However, Team India did not visit Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup held before that. In the Asia Cup, Team India played all its matches in Sri Lanka under the hybrid model. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see whether Team India now visits Pakistan for the Champions Trophy or not.
