Pilibhit. The police team that had gone to arrest the kidnapping accused was attacked on Thursday evening. Accused Abhishek Saxena fired three shots from the rifle, one of which hit constable Shahrukh in his stomach. Amidst the chaos, other policemen immediately took him to the hospital, his condition remains critical.
The accused was also injured in police retaliatory firing. He is undergoing treatment in the district hospital due to bullet injury in his leg. An FIR is being filed against him under sections like murderous attack, obstruction in government work, rebellion etc.
This is the whole matter
Abhishek Saxena, resident of Ganeshganj, Puranpur, had taken a woman with him on December 7. Her husband had filed an FIR of kidnapping in Sadar Kotwali.
According to officials, information was received on Thursday that Abhishek had taken the woman hostage in the agricultural farm house in village Rampura Kon. On receiving this information, Sadar Kotwali Inspector Subhash Yadav, Prakash Chandra Sharma, constable Radha, constables Shahrukh and Ankit of Puranpur police station arrived to raid.
As soon as Abhishek reached the door of Saxena’s farm house at 5.30 pm, he opened fire. At the same time, a bullet hit constable Shahrukh’s belt and entered his stomach. When other members of the accused’s family also started attacking, the policemen had to retaliate.
Meanwhile, fellow policemen took the injured Shahrukh in the vehicle and brought him to the city. On receiving information about the incident, ADG PC Meena and IG Dr. Rakesh Singh arrived to see the injured constable. He said that strict action is being taken against the accused.
