New Delhi. Defending champions Gujarat Titans have become the first team to qualify for the playoffs of IPL 2023. Under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, Gujarat registered a one-sided victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad and made it to the last four. At the same time, with the eighth defeat of this season, Hyderabad’s journey in the 16th season of the Indian Premier League is over.
Gujarat Titans cut the playoff ticket
Like last season, Gujarat Titans have booked the playoff ticket by performing well in IPL 2023. Registering their ninth win of this season against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat have confirmed their place in the last four. The Hyderabad batsmen surrendered very easily to the Gujarat bowlers and the team lost wickets at frequent intervals. In response to the target of 189 runs from Gujarat, the Hyderabad team could only manage 154 runs losing 9 wickets in 20 overs.
Hyderabad journey is over
With the defeat against Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s journey in IPL 2023 has come to an end. Hyderabad had to face the eighth defeat of this season and with this all the doors of the team to reach the playoffs have been completely closed. Hyderabad batsmen once again disappointed with their performance.
Mohammed Shami wreaked havoc
Gujarat Titans fast bowler Mohammed Shami wreaked havoc on the Hyderabad batsmen. Shami took four big wickets while spending just 20 runs in his four-over spell. Shami showed the way to the pavilion to big batsmen like Rahul Tripathi, Heinrich Klaasen, and SRH captain Adam Markram.
