Mafia Atiq Ahmed, the main accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, is being brought to Prayagraj from Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail. Under tight security, the UP Police convoy is bringing Team Atiq Ahmed from Gujarat. On March 28 in Prayagraj, Atiq Ahmed is to be presented in the court in a kidnapping case.
Atiq Ahmed is being brought by road. In order to avoid live tracking of his convoy, the phones of 40 constables accompanying Atiq have been switched off. Atiq Ahmed, who came out of jail after four years, is also afraid of his encounter. When the UP police had reached to pick up Atiq in the jail, he refused to go by road. Later, he was taken out of the jail and made to sit in a police car and then the police left Gujarat on Sunday evening with him.
- The police convoy carrying Atik Ahmed reached Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh on Monday morning (March 27) crossing the Maudiyar toll plaza in Rajasthan. Mundiar is the last toll plaza of Rajasthan on NH 27. The convoy left for the UP border from Shivpuri. Till now the convoy has covered a journey of about 700 kms.
- After reaching Shivpuri, the police team will travel 100 km to reach Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh. The convoy from Jhansi will proceed to Prayagraj with Atiq. Jhansi to Prayagraj distance is 420 km.
- Atiq Ahmed, the main accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, is to be produced in Prayagraj’s MP/MLA court on March 28. After completion of the hearing in the court on March 17 in the old case of kidnapping, the court had reserved the decision. On March 23, the court had ordered Atiq Ahmed to appear.
- On Sunday (March 26), the UP Police team reached Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail after taking the court’s order. Atiq is locked here since 2019. Here Atik Ahmed was made to sit in a police van amidst heavy force and the convoy left for Prayagraj.
- 6 police vehicles are running with Atiq Ahmed. Atiq Ahmed will travel about 1270 km by road while being brought to Prayagraj. Earlier the police had not given any information about the route. It was only after the convoy started that it came to know that they would reach Prayagraj via Himmatnagar-Shamlaji.
- The convoy bringing Atiq from Gujarat entered Rajasthan. Ahmedabad police had come to drop him till the Gujarat border. The distance from Sabarmati Jail to Rajasthan border is 150 km and the team reached here with Atiq in three and a half hours. The vehicles bringing Atiq stopped in Shamlaji for three minutes.
- The convoy stopped at a petrol pump in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Here the policeman and Atiq Ahmed got out of the car to freshen up. Atiq Ahmed was seen here without handcuffs. After 15 minutes the convoy again moved forward.
- After leaving the jail, after covering some distance, the police changed the route after seeing media vehicles behind the convoy. At the same time, some media vehicles were also stopped.
- UP DGP DS Chauhan has issued instructions to the police to be alert. The DGP has instructed the police officers of the district falling on the way that there should be no jam in the way of the convoy bringing Atiq.
Atik will remain under tight security in Prayagraj
After reaching Prayagraj, Atiq Ahmed will be kept under tight security. Atiq Ahmed will be kept in isolation in the high security barrack of the jail. Atiq will be monitored by CCTV in the jail. Special staff will be deployed for Atiq Ahmed in the jail. They will be equipped with body worn cameras. Ateeq will be monitored round the clock from Prayagraj jail office and jail headquarters.
Main accused in Umesh Pal murder case
On February 24, Umesh Pal, the key witness in the MLA Raju Pal murder case, was murdered in broad daylight in Prayagraj. Two security personnel present with Umesh Pal also died in this. Umesh Pal’s wife had filed a nomination report against Atiq Ahmed, his brother Ashraf, wife Shaista Parveen and Atiq’s two sons.
