The Special CBI Court of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, has sentenced a retired railway clerk to one year imprisonment in a 32-year-old case. The clerk was accused of taking a bribe of 100 rupees. Please tell that at this time the age of the convict is 89 years. Along with this, a fine was also imposed on the elderly. The court has imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on the old man. Although an application was filed on behalf of the convict to reduce the sentence keeping his age in mind, but CBI Judge Ajay Vikram Singh rejected it. For this, it was believed that reducing the punishment would send a wrong message to the society.
Not only this, convict Ram Narayan Verma had filed an application requesting the judge that this case is 32 years old and he had spent two days in jail before being released on bail. He also said that his sentence may be limited to the period he has already spent in jail so that he does not have to go to jail to serve the remaining sentence. Being strict on this application, the judge said that 2 days jail is not enough in this case. For the purpose of justice in the case, he will have to serve one year in jail, because taking bribe is a crime.
