Lucknow. Balram Tiwari, a middle-aged man, entered the house on Friday night by setting himself on fire at gate number two of the BJP’s state office in Hazratganj. Seeing Balram surrounded by flames, the police personnel quickly brought the fire under control and took him to the civil hospital. At the time of the incident, preparations were going on in the BJP office for the arrival of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in the city. Balram has accused the landlord of harassment and Thakurganj police of not listening to him.
According to Balram’s wife Sonia, she lives on rent with Manish Pal in Thakurganj Amrapali Yojna. My husband had lost his job six months ago. He was in arrears of rent of Rs. Due to poor financial condition, 10 days ago, the landlord was given a settlement of six thousand rupees.
Landlord Manish was pressurizing him to take three thousand more rupees. He was abusive. Complaint of indecency to the police and demanded some time to pay the money but the hearing was not held. The husband left the house on Friday. They set fire to the BJP office near gate number two and started entering. Seeing this, the police personnel stopped them and doused the fire by putting blankets etc.
DCP Madhya Aparna Rajat Kaushik, ADCP Rajesh Srivastava reached on the information of the incident. The ADCP said that Balram’s treatment is going on. the matter is being investigated. The victim alleges that he had reached the Amrapali outpost in-charge with a complaint. But he had driven away. An inquiry has been ordered. Action will be taken against the outpost in-charge if proven guilty.
