New Delhi. India has suffered a major setback ahead of the final test match against England. Captain Rohit Sharma has been found to be Corona positive. There are also doubts about his playing the last Test match against England. The BCCI has confirmed this by sharing the above information by tweeting. It has been written in the tweet that India captain Rohit Sharma has been found corona positive in the antigen test conducted on Saturday. He is currently in isolation in the hotel room and is under the supervision of the BCCI medical team.
Rohit Sharma was currently part of the 4-day warm-up match against Leicestershire ahead of the deciding Test against England. He also batted in the first innings of this match and on Saturday he did not come out to bat in India’s second innings. He scored 25 runs before being dismissed in the first innings of the practice match.
This is considered a big setback for India before the 5th Test match starting from July 1. Currently, the team is leading 2-1 in this 5-match Test series. If Rohit recovers before the match, which is unlikely, then he will be seen leading Team India for the first time outside the country.
The 5th Test of this series was to be played in September last year but it was rescheduled in view of the situation of Kovid 19. Then Team India was playing under the captaincy of Virat Kohli but now the captains of both the teams have changed. On one hand, where England is playing under the leadership of Ben Stokes, then India’s command is in the hands of Rohit Sharma.
Why is Rohit important to play?
Talking about this series between Team India and England, Rohit Sharma has been the most successful batsman from the side of the team. He has scored 368 runs in 8 innings at an average of 52.57 and strike rate of 42.49. He has scored one century and two half-centuries during this period.
