New Delhi. Sri Lanka’s captain Dasun Shanaka’s stormy innings ruined Australia’s plans for a clean sweep. In the last T20 match played at Pallekele Stadium, Dasun Shanaka’s 54 off 25 balls gave Sri Lanka a thrilling 4-wicket win. Sri Lanka needed 19 runs in the last over and Shanaka hit two fours and a six to give the team a thrilling victory.
Earlier, Australia, batting first after winning the toss, scored 176 runs in 20 overs on the back of David Warner’s 39 and Steve Smith’s 37. Chasing the target, the start of the Sri Lankan team was not good and they lost their first wicket on the score of 25. Sri Lankan captain Shanaka, who lost wickets at frequent intervals, turned the match in Sri Lanka’s favor in the last 3 overs.

Sri Lanka needed 19 runs in the last over and Australia bowler Kane Richardson had the ball in his hands. The first two balls were wides, after which captain Shanaka took 1 run. On the next ball, Karunaratne took 1 run and again gave the strike to the captain. 15 runs were to be scored in the last 4 balls and the match seemed to have gone out of Sri Lanka’s hands but Sri Lanka made an impossible victory possible by hitting 2 fours and 1 six in the next three balls.

Due to the captaincy innings of Dasun Shanaka, Australia’s intentions of a clean sweep were dashed. Australia, who took a 2-0 lead in the series, eventually captured the series 2-1. The first T20 match was defeated by Australia by 10 wickets while the second T20 match was won by Australia by 3 wickets.
