Lucknow. In Uttar Pradesh, before the elections to the 13 Legislative Council seats, cracks have started appearing in the Samajwadi Party alliance. SP’s ally Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SubhSP) and Mahan Dal have expressed their displeasure over not getting seats in the Legislative Council elections. The Mahan Dal has distanced itself from the SP alliance. Voices of protest have started erupting in Subhasp.
Four SP candidates have filed their nominations for the UP Legislative Council elections on Wednesday. Two of these SP leaders are close to Azam Khan. The candidates decided by the party include Swami Prasad Maurya, Mukul Singh, son of former Karhal MLA Sobran Singh Yadav. Apart from this, the names of Shahnawaz Khan Shabu from Saharanpur and Jasmir Ansari of Sitapur are included.
In Uttar Pradesh, the SP has to get four seats in the elections for 13 seats in the Legislative Council. There was a tug of war going on in the SP for several days over the names of MLC candidates. Since the SP had given one Rajya Sabha seat to the ally RLD, the SubhaSP was expected to get one seat in the Legislative Council. Akhilesh Yadav had also promised one MLC seat to the Subhasp. On Wednesday, the SP did not give a single seat to the ally as part of the strategy of sending two candidates from the minority community to the Legislative Council.
Arun Rajbhar, son of Subhaspa president Om Prakash Rajbhar and national general secretary, has expressed displeasure over this. After the nomination of SP candidates, he tweeted that ‘By keeping the talk of giving participation limited only to the tongue, the public limits them. Those who work hard, give strength, ignore them. Proceed the one who only talks, it is harmful for the future.
Subhasp’s national spokesperson Piyush Mishra said that today’s decision of Akhilesh Yadav is definitely going to disappoint the Subhaspa workers. If an ally wins eight seats by contesting 38 seats, then he gets Rajya Sabha, we don’t mind there. We fight 16 seats and win six, so why neglect us?’
At the same time, Keshav Dev Maurya, the president of the Mahan Dal, annoyed by not sending the Legislative Council, has taken a big decision. He distanced himself from the SP alliance. He said that Akhilesh Yadav is sending those who pressurize the Legislative Council and Rajya Sabha. Akhilesh is surrounded by sycophants. They don’t need me anymore. So he is taking the decision to break the alliance. The Mahan Dal was given two seats in the assembly by the SP, although its candidates lost on both.
