New Delhi: In the 49th match of the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings faced Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MCA ground. Chennai captain Dhoni won the toss and decided to bowl. Batting first, Bangalore scored 173 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. In 20 overs, Chennai’s team could only reach 160 runs for 8 wickets. Bangalore ended a three consecutive losing streak by winning the match by 13 runs.
Chennai’s defeat, Kanve’s fifty wasted
For the second straight match, Devon Kanve and Rituraj Gaikwad got off to a brisk start. Chasing a target of 174, both of them scored 51 runs without losing a wicket in the power play. Shahbaz Ahmed got the team’s first breakthrough by dismissing Rituraj for 28 runs. In his very first over, Glenn Maxwell got Robin Uthappa caught by Prabhu Desai for 1.
