On Saturday, the police finally registered a case against six people, including Shobhavati, wife of Lalji Verma, a former minister and SP candidate from Katehri, surrounded by murder charges. The Ibrahimpur Police has taken this action on the orders of the court. About a year and a half ago, villagers had beaten the youth to death. The family members of the deceased appealed to the police for justice, but due to the political influence of the accused, the case could not be registered.
Dharmendra Verma of Chingi village was shot dead on 26 June 2020 in Ibrahimpur police station about a year and a half ago in Utrethu market. Dharmendra was considered close to former minister and Katehri MLA Lalji Verma. After firing on Dharmendra, the market and the people around here got angry due to his death on the spot. The three accused, who came to shoot, were surrounded in the market itself and were beaten to death. Ritesh alias DM of Dharampur of Ahiroli police station, accused of murder, was also killed due to the anger of the furious mob. Suresh Singh, father of the deceased Ritesh alias DM, had given a complaint in the police station, but his case was not written. At that time he took recourse to the court.
After about 20 months, on the orders of the court, Shobhavati Verma, wife of Katehari MLA and SP candidate Lalji, along with Ajit Verma, Ram Bhawan, Mahendra Verma, Jitendra Verma, Manne Verma, Sukhiram Verma and seven unknown accused of Ibrahimpur police committed murder. lawsuit has been filed. Lalji’s wife Shobhavati has also been the District Panchayat President in the past. Police Station Ibrahimpur Pramod Singh said that a case has been registered against all the accused. Charge sheet will be sent after investigation.
