South Africa recorded a record number of daily COVID-19 cases in a fourth wave over the past week, largely attributed to the Omicron variant. CSA said, “CSA would like to inform cricket fans as well as all sports fans that due to the rising corona cases across the world and the fourth wave at the local level, both the cricket boards have jointly taken measures for the safety of the players and the tour.” It has been decided that tickets will not be provided for the matches between India vs South Africa. This decision has been taken to avoid any violation.”
Cases of corona infection have increased in South Africa for some time. Due to this, the remaining matches of the domestic tournament four-day franchise series have been postponed. CSA on Monday also canceled the T20 Mzansi Super League (MSL) for the second time due to the Kovid-19 epidemic. The MSL was to be held in February, but the board said it was forced to cancel the tournament due to the travel ban on South Africa from several countries following the spread of the Omicron variant. Earlier the 2020 season was also canceled due to the pandemic. The Indian team has been staying at a resort since its arrival here on December 16, which is fully booked for the Indian team. The third Test will be held in Cape Town from January 11. This will be followed by a three-match ODI series.
