Lucknow. Ashish Mishra, the main accused in the case of the death of eight people, including four farmers, in the violence after the riots in Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3, will not get relief till January 6. After hearing in the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court on Friday on the bail of Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni, the court has directed the government to file a counter affidavit by January 6.
In Lucknow Division Bench, Justice Karunesh Singh Panwar has given another date for bail to the minister’s son Ashish. At present, there will be no hearing in this case till January 6. The bail plea of Ashish Mishra alias Monu, the son of Union Minister of State for Home and the main accused in the Lakhimpur violence case, was rejected on Friday. He did not get relief in hearing the bail plea in Lucknow Bench.
Earlier on November 29, a single bench of Justice Karunesh Singh Pawar, while hearing the bail plea of Ashish Mishra Monu, had ordered the state government to file a reply within ten days. Earlier, his bail had been rejected by the sessions court earlier. After which he has taken refuge in the High Court. Ashish Mishra Monu is lodged in the District Jail Lakhimpur along with his associates. He surrendered in the court after the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri. After which the police took him on remand. In this case, along with the SIT of the state government, the SIT formed on the instructions of the Supreme Court is also investigating.
A total of 13 people, including Union Minister Ashish, have been arrested by the police in this case so far. A case has been registered against him under several serious sections including murder. The state government has constituted an SIT to investigate the Lakhimpur violence. The SIT had identified 12 other accused, including the minister’s son. Everyone was arrested. Since then all the 13 accused including Ashish are in jail.
