Moradabad: CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) team raided the Lalatikar branch of Pratham UP Gramin Bank in Mundhapande block on Tuesday. The team caught the branch manager Girish Gangwar taking bribe. After this the team took the branch manager to his Rampur residence. Apart from this, other teams also reached the houses of the loan brokers and many complainants. The team’s action was going on till 9.30 pm. A team reached the headquarters and gathered information about the accused branch manager.
The CBI had received a complaint that bribery was being done in the name of sanctioning loans. No loan is being sanctioned without brokers. On complaints, the team raided the branch. The CBI team started questioning after taking the bank manager Girish Gangwar into custody from the branch. No employee was allowed to go out during the operation. A team had also caught Kayum master in Rauda village. He was accused of brokerage in the name of getting the loan sanctioned. Eyewitnesses said that after the bank’s working hours were over, the CBI team entered the branch premises and pulled down the shutter from inside. This caused panic in the premises. Other teams went on to interrogate the complainant and others. The team consisted of eight people and three came by vehicles. The action was going on late night, due to which the amount of bribe that the CBI has caught while accepting it could not be confirmed. The CBI team also reached a farmer in Virpur Wariyar village. The team reached Pratham UP Gramin Bank Headquarters Ramganga Vihar and inquired about the documents and accounts related to the branch manager. Top officials of the bank kept denying information in this regard.
It was reported that the CBI had raided the Lalatikar branch. A vehicle was asked for by the CBI, which was provided. CBI is interrogating the bank manager.
