Mumbai. Shreyas Iyer’s father Santosh Iyer has made a big disclosure on the day of his debut. Shreyas Iyer made his Test debut against New Zealand at the Greenpark Stadium in Kanpur. He has been playing ODI and T20 cricket since 2017, but he got a chance in Test cricket after four years. Although he has been a part of the Test team, he has not got a chance to play.
Actually, Shreyas Iyer’s father has not changed his WhatsApp DP for the last four years, with Shreyas Iyer holding the 2017 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in his hand. The reason for this is that he always wanted to see his son play Test cricket. His dream came true when Shreyas made his Test debut against New Zealand on Thursday. Shreyas made his first Test memorable by scoring an unbeaten half-century.
After the first day’s play, Shreyas’s father said, “This DP is close to my heart. He was in the team as standby for Virat Kohli when he was playing against Australia in Dharamsala. At that time to win the match. later gave him the trophy. He has held that trophy and that moment is priceless for me. I was waiting for Shreyas to play test for India. When Ajinkya Rahane said that he is playing it was the happiest moment of my life Test cricket is more for me than IPL, ODIs or any other format.
Shreyas got the Test cap from Sunil Gavaskar which was a proud moment for his father. “Sunil Gavaskar is one of my favorite cricketers and it was a proud moment. I have no words to express my happiness,” he said. Shreyas Iyer is the 303rd player to play for India.
