Lakhimpur. The police remand of Ashish Mishra, Ankit Das, Shekhar Bharti and Latif alias Kale, son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra ‘Teni’, the main accused of Lakhimpur Kheri violence, has been approved again. The four accused will have to remain in police custody from 5 pm on 22nd October till 5 pm on 24th October. On Thursday, the SIT had filed an application in the CJM court for three days’ police remand for interrogation of the four and face-to-face with the co-accused.
On Friday, the four accused were summoned from jail and brought to the CJM Court. While arguing with the prosecution, SPO SP Yadav again pleaded for remand for three days. The advocates of the accused Awadhesh Kumar Singh and Shailendra Singh Gaur told the court that the police has collected evidence and interrogation by taking Ashish Mishra and other accused in custody for three days. He strongly opposed the remand application. An hour after hearing the argument, the CJM again granted 48 hours police remand of the accused Ashish Mishra, Ankit Das, Shekhar Bharti and Latif.
Statements of a dozen witnesses related to violence recorded: In the Lakhimpur violence case, the statements of a dozen witnesses were recorded before the Judicial Magistrate on Friday. After the order of the Supreme Court, the investigator has started the exercise of recording the statement of the witnesses of the incident under 164 CrPC in the understanding of the magistrate. On Thursday, the SIT had recorded the statements of five witnesses in connection with the incident, before which the statements of four witnesses were recorded. So far the statements of 21 witnesses have been recorded before the magistrate. If sources are to be believed, the SIT has started the exercise in recording the statements of all the witnesses before the hearing in the Supreme Court.
Ashish, Ankit and Sumit will confront Satyam today. SIT: More than a fortnight has passed since the Lakhimpur-Kheeri incident. The investigation is also going on fast, but now many layers of truth are not open, due to which the whole matter has not been cleared. Saturday is a very important day for the SIT to find answers to many such unresolved questions so far. On Saturday, the SIT will make the main accused of the incident, son Ashish Mishra Monu and Lucknow’s contractor Ankit Das face-to-face with Sumit Jaiswal Modi and Satyam.
The SIT has already interrogated Ashish Mishra, Monu, who was first arrested in the case, and Ankit Das, Latif alias Kale and Shekhar Bharti, who were arrested after that. Now on Friday, the remand of Ashish Mishra, Ankit Das, Latif and Shekhar has been received again for two days by the SIT. On the other hand, the remand of accused Sumit Jaiswal Modi, Satyam Tripathi, Shishupal and Nandan Singh is going on, which is till Saturday. Due to this, the SIT has made preparations to interrogate the above eight accused simultaneously on Saturday. Earlier, the facts revealed in separate interrogations from them would be reconciled. So far, there are many questions regarding Ashish’s presence at the scene, which have not been answered. Also some things have come out differently. According to sources, the SIT will interrogate all the above eight accused including Ashish and Ankit Das face to face to clear all these things and find answers to the questions.
