New Delhi. The match is to be played between India and Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup. The BCCI is hosting the event to be held from October 17 to November 14. On October 24, both the teams will play in the group match. No bilateral series is played between the two teams. Condemning the terrorist attack on civilians in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress leader and BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla said that strict action should be taken against terrorist organizations.
Shukla said, “We strongly condemn the killings (in Jammu and Kashmir). Strict action should be taken against terrorist organizations. As far as the match (India-Pakistan in T20 World) is concerned, as per ICC’s international commitments, you cannot refuse to play against anyone. You have to play in ICC tournaments.
There was talk that the BCCI and the government should reconsider playing against Pakistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup as civilians, especially non-locals, are being targeted and killed in Jammu and Kashmir in the past few days. Huh. Shukla said that while strict action should be taken against terrorist organizations, the match should be played against Pakistan as it is an ICC tournament.
In the ICC World Cup, India and Pakistan have been placed in the same group. Group 1 will have Australia, England, South Africa, West Indies besides two qualifier teams. Apart from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, New Zealand, two qualifier teams will make it to Group 2. India’s first match is to be with Pakistan on October 24. Playing against New Zealand on 31 October, Afghanistan on 03 November. On November 5 and then on November 8, India has to play with two qualifier teams.
