Mirzapur. 12 people including relatives of a family started drowning due to the boat sinking while returning from the other bank after taking a bath in the Ganges at the Akhara Ghat located in Vindhyachal Dham. Six people were rescued with the help of boatmen and divers, but the other six are missing. Sailors and divers are engaged in search of missing people.
Rajesh Tiwari (35), son of Bhuvneshwar Tiwari, a resident of Ranchi’s police station and village Dhurha in Jharkhand, along with his family and relatives had come to Vindhyachal to worship mother Vindhyavasini. In the afternoon, all the 12 people had gone to the other bank to take a bath in the Ganges in a boat. After bathing in the Ganges, everyone started returning by boat. Meanwhile, along with the rain, a strong wind started blowing. As a result, the boat overturned uncontrollably. Seeing the boat sinking, everyone started screaming. Hearing this, nearby sailors and divers reached.
Along with 12 people including Rajesh Tiwari’s family and relatives, 14 people including sailor and photographer were on board the boat. Among them Rajesh (35), Vikas (28), Deepak (27), driver (unknown), Alka (09), Ritika (07) have been rescued. Gudiya (28), Khushboo (30), Anisha (26), Satyam (05) along with a child (two and a half months) and a baby girl (03 months) have drowned in the boat. During this, the officers along with the police force were present on the spot. With the help of local boatmen and divers, the search is on for the six drowned people in the Ganges.
