Lucknow. The Ghazipur Police has arrested SP’s District Panchayat member Raja Man Singh on charges of trading in counterfeit notes. He is a district panchayat member from the Masoudha II seat of Ayodhya. He used to cheat people on the pretext of giving fake notes five times more in exchange for real notes. He used to keep the original note on top of the bundles of notes, but used to put pieces of paper of the same size under it. The police caught him on Sunday night.
Inspector Ghazipur Anil Kumar Singh said that 14 cases are registered against Raja Man Singh in different police stations. He is a resident of Sariyava village of Purakalandar police station area of Ayodhya. A Scorpio car was also recovered from him. Apart from this, a bag has been found in which pieces of paper have been found. Apart from this, some 500 and 100 notes have also been found. Police is interrogating the accused.
Cheated a businessman by calling him in the hotel: Inspector said that Man Singh had stayed here on Saturday at the Hyatt Hotel in Vibhutikhand. He had claimed to have given fake notes of 50 lakhs in lieu of original notes of 10 lakhs to Pawan Kumar, a businessman living in Jankipuram. After calling Pawan to the hotel, he gave 10 bundles. In which 500 and 100 denomination notes were placed above and below. In the rest of the bundle, the pieces of paper were equal to the notes. These bundles were given to Pawan as fake notes in the bag. Pawan was given Rs outside the hotel. After that he left. When Pawan checked the money, he found pieces of paper between the original notes. After that he filed a complaint in the police station. After registering a case on the basis of Tahrir, the accused Man Singh was arrested from the area on Sunday night.
