In Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, the wife of a property dealer and BJP leader committed suicide by shooting herself. She had a fight with her mother-in-law over cooking food. In this fight, the husband supported his mother, which the wife could not tolerate. She went to her room in anger and then shot herself with her husband’s licensed pistol. As soon as the sound of firing was heard, the family members rushed to the room. The woman soaked in blood was immediately taken to the hospital, where the doctors declared her dead.
The case is from Navi Kot Nanda Nai Basti area. Here, property dealer Atul Singh Chauhan lives with his family. He is also a BJP leader. He has also contested the councilor election from BJP. According to the police, Atul had gone to work on Tuesday. At around 1.30 pm, wife Gunjan Singh (28) sent a message to her husband on WhatsApp and invited him home for dinner.
Atul reached home shortly after receiving the message on WhatsApp, after which Gunjan served food to her mother-in-law as well. The mother-in-law is a diabetic patient. He questioned Gunjan about the rice served for dinner, on which the husband also took the side of his mother. When the dispute escalated, Gunjan got angry and went to her room.
Atul told the police that a few minutes after Gunjan went to her room, the sound of firing was heard. When he reached the room, Gunjan was lying on the floor soaked in blood. With the help of family members, Atul took his wife to Ram Sagar Mishra Hospital for treatment. From there, the injured was asked to be taken to KGMU Trauma Center. According to Atul, on reaching the trauma center, the doctors confirmed Gunjan’s death.
Why did you cook rice for your mother?
After lunch, Atul’s mother Shobha Singh was also present. Daughter-in-law Gunjan cooked rice for dinner. Shobha, who is a diabetic, objected to her daughter-in-law cooking rice. Due to which, there was an argument between the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. During the dispute, Atul said that mother is diabetic. Then you should not have cooked rice. Seeing her husband talking to her mother-in-law’s side, Gunja got angry and went to her room.
According to the police, Gunjan shot her husband with a .32 bore pistol by placing it on his stomach. The police have recovered the pistol, which was lying on the bed. At the time of the incident, her husband Atul, mother-in-law Shobha Singh, uncle Amarendra Singh and sister-in-law were also present in the house.
Gunjan was married nine years ago
Atul and Gunja were married in the year 2016. They have a seven-year-old daughter, Lavi Singh. Earlier, the family lived in Muslim Nagar. Gunjan did not like this locality, so Atul bought a plot in Naya Basti and got a house built. The griha pravesh took place about two months ago.
Gunjan’s family demanded an investigation
The family did not inform the police after Gunjan shot him. The BKT police came to know about the incident after he died in the hospital. Gunjan’s parents were informed. They have demanded an investigation. Inspector BKT said that a letter will be sent to cancel the license of Atul’s pistol. Along with this, the police will also take the statement of the members present at the time of the incident.
