New Delhi. The fourth match of the five-match Test series between India and England is being played at The Oval. Indian opener Rohit Sharma achieved a special achievement in this match. He joined the list of batsmen who scored 15,000 runs in international cricket. He became the eighth player from India to do so. After this special achievement, his name has now joined the list of Sachin, Dravid, Virat Kohli, Sourav Ganguly, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virender Sehwag and Mohammad Azharuddin.
In the fourth match being played against England, Rohit achieved another important milestone in his career. England’s first innings was all out for 290 runs on the second day of the Oval Test match. The hosts took a 99-run lead over India on the basis of their first innings. Coming to bat in the second innings, Rohit completed his 15 thousand runs in international cricket. In reaching this figure, he left behind former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly.
At the top of this list is the name of the current captain of the Indian team, Virat Kohli. He had completed his 15,000 international runs in just 333 innings. The second place is the name of the legend Sachin Tendulkar, who has done so in 356 innings. Rahul Dravid had achieved this position in 368 innings and he is at number three. Virender Sehwag played 371 innings to complete 15,000 runs while Rohit completed it in 396 innings.
In reaching this figure, Rohit left behind former captain Sourav Ganguly and Mohammad Azharuddin. Ganguly touched 400 and Azharuddin touched this figure after 434 innings. Former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni took 452 innings to score 15,000 international runs.
