Lucknow. Kalyan Singh, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and former Governor of Rajasthan, passed away today after a prolonged illness. On July 4, he was admitted to the ICU of Critical Care Medicine of Sanjay Gandhi PGI in a critical condition. He breathed his last at 9:30 pm on Saturday night due to prolonged illness and gradual failure of many parts of the body. Due to ill health, Kalyan Singh was admitted in Lucknow’s Sanjay Gandhi PGI since July 4. During this, PM Narendra Modi took the condition of his health every day and on his instructions, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath kept monitoring it continuously. The doctors of PGI had informed the Chief Minister and his family members about the critical condition of Kalyan Singh. On receiving this information late in the evening on Saturday, CM Yogi Adityanath had reached SGPGI to see him. Condoling the death of former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh, CM Yogi Adityanath has declared a three-day state mourning in Uttar Pradesh.
Three days of state mourning, funeral in Narora tomorrow: On the death of former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh, a wave of mourning ran across the state on Saturday. On receiving this sad information, many senior party ministers and leaders including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached PGI. From there, Parthiv brought the body to his residence on Swajan Mall Avenue. Along with this, the Chief Minister announced three days of state mourning. Here, BJP has postponed all its programs for three days and National President JP Nadda is also coming to Lucknow on Sunday to pay tribute to the late leader.
After the death of the former Chief Minister, an emergency meeting of the cabinet was called at 11.30 pm and a condolence resolution was passed. Yogi, who reached the PGI before that, told that the national flag will remain half-masted during the period of state mourning. On Sunday, the mortal remains of Kalyan Singh will be kept for darshan at the Vidhan Bhavan from 9 am to 11 am and then at the BJP state headquarters from 11 am to 1 pm. After the tribute here, the body will be taken to Aligarh at 2 pm. There too the body will be kept in the stadium for public viewing. On Monday, the body will be kept for public viewing at Atrauli, Janmabhoomi-Karmbhoomi, Aligarh. In the evening, the last rites will be performed with state honors on the banks of the Ganges at Narora. The government has also declared a public holiday on the day of the funeral. With this, the BJP has postponed all its programs for three days. JP Nadda is also coming to Lucknow on Sunday to pay his last respects and tributes to Kalyan Singh.
Chief Minister started peace lessons: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath again reached Kalyan Singh’s residence on Mall Avenue after the cabinet meeting late on Saturday night. During this, he asked the District Magistrate to start peace lessons. After getting the instructions of the CM, the peace lesson started there. The Chief Minister was present there for about half an hour and the peace lessons continued.
PGI twice and reached home twice: The Chief Minister reached PGI on Saturday afternoon to take care of Kalyan Singh. After that he returned. Shortly after he received information about the death of Kalyan Singh, after which he again reached PGI. After this, his convoy along with the dead vehicle reached Kalyan Singh’s residence on Mall Avenue. In the presence of the Chief Minister, the body of the former Chief Minister was removed from the ambulance. The Chief Minister talked to the family members for a long time, after which he went to the cabinet meeting. Late in the night, the Chief Minister again reached Kalyan Singh’s residence on Mall Avenue and consoled the family members.
Kalyan was among the founding members of BJP
Kalyan Singh, one of the founding members of the Bharatiya Janata Party, had a huge stature in the party as well as in Indian politics. Kalyan Singh, who was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh at the time of the demolition of the disputed structure in Ayodhya, was one of the tallest leaders of the BJP. Kalyan Singh, one of the heroes of the Ram Mandir movement, was born on January 6, 1932 in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. His father’s name was Tejpal Lodhi and mother’s name was Sita Devi. Kalyan Singh held the post of Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh twice. Apart from winning from Atrauli assembly, he was also a member of Lok Sabha from Bulandshahr and Etah. He was the Governor of Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh. After ending his term as governor, Kalyan Singh came to Lucknow and once again joined the BJP.

For the first time in 1991, Kalyan Singh became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and for the second time in 1997. Leader of the Opposition in 1993
Kalyan Singh was elected MLA from Atrauli and Kasganj in 1993. In these elections, BJP emerged as the largest party, but when the government was not formed, Kalyan Singh sat on the post of Leader of Opposition in the assembly. After this the BJP formed the government in Uttar Pradesh in alliance with the BSP. Then Kalyan Singh became the Chief Minister once again from September 1997 to November 1999. In the coalition government, Mayawati became the first Chief Minister, but when it came the turn of the BJP, she withdrew support. The BSP withdrew support to the Kalyan Singh government on October 21, 1997.
BJP’s return to power in the state again
Kalyan Singh, who had sensed the tricks of the BSP, was already in touch with Congress MLA Naresh Agrawal and got the support of 21 MLAs formed by the party of MLAs who came with Naresh Agarwal, Loktantrik Congress. By including Naresh Aggarwal in the government, he also made him the Minister of Energy Department.
Won the Lok Sabha elections by fighting as an independent
Kalyan Singh left the BJP in December 1999 after getting upset over something. He formed his own party and also joined Mulayam Singh Yadav. After about five years, in January 2003, he returned to the BJP. BJP made him a candidate from Bulandshahr in 2004 Lok Sabha elections and he won. After this he left the BJP before the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. He contested the 2009 Lok Sabha elections from Etah as an independent candidate and won.
