During the online class in the Geography Department of BHU, on Thursday, the students of the department raised slogans in front of Singhdwar, accusing them of showing a wrong map of India. He has demanded disciplinary action against the accused teacher.
According to the students, Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh were not visible in the map of the country shown during online studies. The students strongly objected to this. He told that after the online class, when some students met the teacher and lodged an objection, they did not take it seriously.
Later, the angry students asked the Head of Geography Department, Prof. Complained to RS Singh. Not getting satisfactory answer from their side, the students started dharna at the Singhdwar of BHU. The students told that while teaching Veet Production to the students of BA third year on Thursday, the map of India shown by Assistant Professor Seema Rani did not contain Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh.
The BHU unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has demanded disciplinary and legal action, calling it objectionable. The students gave a memorandum to the officials of the Proctorial Board of the university who reached Singhdwar on the information of the students’ dharna. After giving the memorandum, both the contact doors were opened, but the dharna continued by closing the main gate. Adhokshaj Pandey, Sakshi Singh, Sohan Rai, Suygya, Trishala Pathak, Vipul Singh and Subodh Kant were prominent among those who protested.
BHU Chief Proctor said, “Rashtradharma is paramount. Tampering with it is not acceptable. The university administration has taken cognizance of the developments in the Department of Geography. Action will be taken in the matter as per rules. Professor Anand Choudhary.
