Aligarh. Waterlogging is not the fate of the city but the result of unplanned development. If the officers who often shied away from the problem by saying that the geographical location of the city was like a bowl, had technical thinking and completed the necessary work in time, then people would not have to face the problem of water logging. The extent to which negligence is being done in the construction works of the Municipal Corporation is not hidden from anyone. Whether it is road construction or canal construction. The construction of the drain started in Jangalgarhi two and a half years ago cannot be completed till now. There is a portion of 100 meters remaining, which the officers are giving confidence to build for five months. This drain is creating problems in the rain. The drain on Khair Road was cut towards Shahjamal, submerging the Idgah and its surrounding areas. No one paid attention to this either. Now people are expecting the new Municipal Commissioner Gaurang Rathi to solve the problem.
These are the circumstances
The construction work of drain through Sarai Mian, Jangalgarhi in Dehligate area started in December 2018. It is being constructed by the 14th Finance Commission. Local people told that from the culvert of Kailash Gali to the culvert of Sarai Kaaba, about 100 meters of drain is yet to be built, the work was stopped in February. As a result, the evacuation was blocked. The water could not come out in the rain and started filling in the population. The drain is littered with garbage. People are in bad condition due to filth and foul smell. Complained several times to the municipal officials, but did not listen. Why was the drain construction work abandoned in the middle? This is also not being told. Had the construction work been completed before the rains, there would have been no problems of water logging. The mayor is also not paying any attention to this. Not only this, the drain coming out of Barfkhana Khair Road has been cut towards Shahjamal, which fills the Idgah and the surrounding area with water. It was also closed in the past, but has opened again.
