New Delhi. For the Sri Lanka tour, Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been made the vice-captain of Team India while Shikhar Dhawan will be seen playing the role of the captain. Bhuvi is the second most experienced player in the team that has gone on the Sri Lanka tour, who has played a total of 186 matches for India, while Shikhar Dhawan has played a total of 241 international matches. Bhuvi is Team India’s main bowler in the limited overs format and he returned to Team India this year after a long injury during the tour of England.
In the ODI and T20 matches against Sri Lanka, India’s main bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohd. In the absence of Shami, he will also be seen leading the bowler attack. Currently, Bumrah and Shami are on a tour of England where they have to take part in the five-match Test series. In Sri Lanka, he will lead the pace attack of Team India, as well as he has also been given the responsibility of vice-captain, due to which he will also be under pressure. Now the right-arm swing bowler said that he has been the team’s senior bowler for a long time but his role has changed on paper only for the cricket series against Sri Lanka.
Speaking on the Star Sports show Cricket Connect, Bhuvi said that yes, on paper my role is that of the vice-captain, but I don’t think things will change. I think my role as a senior player is to help other players to improve their skills and mental health. It is an honor for me to be made vice-captain and it is a big responsibility. So, I will try to continue the things that I have been doing and hope that our team does well on this tour.
