Lucknow : The Gateway of the country’s politics is called UP, but the BJP strategists have now decorated the ‘Toran-Dwar’ in Delhi for the Mission-Uttar Pradesh. Making the policy of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas a part of the strategy of UP Assembly Election 2022, 7 new faces have been included in the Modi cabinet. With the participation of a total of 15 ministers including PM Modi along with these new ministers of state, the dominance of Uttar Pradesh in the central government has increased so much for the first time. Keeping the backward and the Dalits on their heads and eyes, there has also been a close eye on the regional balance.
In Uttar Pradesh, the most populous Backward and Other Backward Classes, who have come to the BJP’s side since the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, have given the message of ‘Saath and Vikas’ by making three new ministers. This bet is believed to neutralize the bets of the Samajwadi Party which is trying to attract the backwards. Similarly, the BJP has made a good dent in the votes of about 21-22 percent of the Scheduled Castes, which were considered by the BSP. To maintain a strong hold on this class, three ministers from the Depressed Classes have also been included.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, General VK Singh, Smriti Irani and Hardeep Puri already have the participation of 5 upper castes in Team Modi in the ministers of Uttar Pradesh quota. Now an attempt has also been made to blunt the issue of discrimination against Brahmins being raised by the opposition in Uttar Pradesh by including one more Brahmin. Along with the ethnic balance, the regional balance has also been taken care of in this detail. In the Backward Classes, BJP’s ally Apna Dal’s Anupriya Patel is an MP from Mirzapur. Anupriya, who was the Minister of State for Health in Modi Sarkar-1, has a good influence on Kurmi society in some districts of Purvanchal.
With his return to Modi’s cabinet, Pankaj Chaudhary has been made a Union Minister for the first time from Maharajganj in Purvanchal. He is also a Kurmi leader. Having been elected MP for the sixth time, the influence and hold in the area abound. Similarly, BL Verma, a Rajya Sabha member with Sangh background, hails from Badaun in western Uttar Pradesh. He is considered to have a good hold in the Lodhi-Rajput society. Some districts including Aligarh, Etah, Farrukhabad have a significant vote share of this society. The western UP, which the opposition tried to heat up with the anti-agriculture law movement, was represented by Agra MP Prof. SP Singh Baghel has been increased by making him a minister from Dalit quota. Baghel, who was in the Samajwadi Party and BSP, has also been a minister in the Yogi government after joining the BJP. Pal-Baghel is one of the influential leaders of the society.
Similarly, Rajnath Singh, the MP from Lucknow of Avadh region, is already in the Union Cabinet. Now Kaushal Kishor, MP from Mohanlalganj seat of the same area, has been made Minister of State from Dalit quota. He is also the state president of BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha. As a representative of Bundelkhand region, Jalaun MP Bhanupratap Singh Verma, who comes from the Dalit class, has got a place in Team Modi. He has long political experience. Verma, who became an MLA for the first time in 1991, is an MP for the fifth time. At the same time, by making Kheri MP Ajay Mishra a minister, the Brahmin has also been given a message of development and support.
For the first time, 15 ministers from UP in the Union Cabinet, the dominance of Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state, is now visible. Even after the resignation of MP Santosh Gangwar from the Modi cabinet, now a total of 15 ministers are from UP. Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself, Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, General VK Singh, Sanjeev Balyan, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and Hardeep Puri (Rajya Sabha member from Uttar Pradesh) are already there. In this way, now there are six upper castes, six backward classes and three scheduled castes.
