Lucknow. The Bharatiya Janata Party, which is in power in Uttar Pradesh, has waved its flag in the election for the post of District Panchayat President. BJP’s 21 candidates had already won unopposed and on Saturday, after voting for 53 posts, the Bharatiya Janata Party covered the field of opposition.
The BJP registered a landslide victory in the voting held in 53 districts on Saturday. BJP has won in 44 districts except Etah, Sant Kabirnagar, Azamgarh, Ballia, Baghpat, Jaunpur and Pratapgarh. Out of 75 districts, BJP has got 13 out of 14 districts of western Uttar Pradesh, 11 in 12 districts of Brij region, 13 in Kanpur region, 13 in Awadh region, ten in 12 districts of Kashi region and Gorakhpur region. Seven out of the 10 districts of the region have won.
BJP has won 67 out of 75 Zilla Panchayat President posts. The main opposition party, the Samajwadi Party, has five seats in its account. Rashtriya Lok Dal won one seat. Independent Srikala Reddy from Jaunpur and Madhuri Patel of Jansatta Dal Democratic from Pratapgarh. The BJP has defeated the Samajwadi Party in their strongholds Mainpuri, Rampur, Badaun and Azamgarh as well as in Congress’s fort Rae Bareli.
In the election for the post of district panchayat president, which is considered to be the semi-final of Uttar Pradesh’s power, the BJP has got a lot of support from the independent candidates. Along with this, Apna Dal (S), which has an alliance with the BJP, has also won one of the two seats. Shrikala Singh, wife of former Bahubali BSP MP Dhananjay Singh, has won in Jaunpur. Along with this, the Samajwadi Party has maintained the dominance of Ballia and Azamgarh, Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya in Pratapgarh. When his party Jansatta Dal opened the account, in Baghpat, RLD succeeded in registering victory even after all the upheaval.
Out of the 22 districts in which the president has been elected unopposed, 21 are the district panchayat presidents of the BJP. Samajwadi Party has succeeded in saving its stronghold in Etawah. On June 29, as soon as the withdrawal period passed, it was announced that everyone was elected. While 21 of the elected unopposed presidents belong to the BJP, only the chair of the district panchayat president of Etawah is in the hands of the SP.
1- Mainpuri: In Mainpuri, the parliamentary constituency of Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, the BJP won the election of District Panchayat President. Here Archana Bhadauria of BJP has become the District Panchayat President.
2- Rae Bareli: BJP candidate Ranjana Chaudhary has won in Rae Bareli, the parliamentary constituency of Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi. Ranjana defeated Arti Singh of Congress by getting 30 votes. Congress candidate Aarti Singh got 22 votes.
3- Rampur: Azam Khan’s fort in Rampur has also been destroyed. Here Khyaliram Lodhi of BJP became the district panchayat president. Lodh got 19 votes while SP candidate Nasreen Jahan got 13 votes. Here, Leader of Opposition Ramgovind Chaudhary, accusing the administration of rigging the elections, started a sit-in in front of Ambedkar Park along with the SPs.
4- Lucknow: In Lucknow, BJP’s Aarti has become the District Panchayat President. Aarti Rawat defeated Vijayalakshmi of Samajwadi Party by three votes here after voting. Aarti got 14 votes and Vijay Lakshmi got 11 votes. The district panchayat had a total of 25 votes here. Samajwadi Party alleges election malpractices.
5- Ambedkar Nagar: Shyam Sundar alias Sadhu Verma of BJP got the distinction of becoming District Panchayat President by securing 30 votes in BSP’s big stronghold Ambedkar Nagar. His rival Samajwadi Party’s Ajit Yadav got ten votes. One vote was rejected. There are total 41 Zilla Panchayat members.
6- Ghazipur: Sapna Singh, who joined BJP on the day of nomination in Ghazipur, won the election by 27 votes. From here, Sapna Singh, who became the District Panchayat President, defeated the kusumlata of Samajwadi Party. Kusumlata got 20 votes.
7- Mirzapur: Raju Kannojia of Bharatiya Janata Party got the distinction of becoming the District Panchayat President with 40 votes amidst all the allegations. Samajwadi Party candidate Asha Devi, who contested against him, got only four votes.
8- Unnao: Shakun Singh, who worked hard even after getting the ticket at the last minute, has become the District Panchayat President from Unnao. He defeated Baji Arun of BJP by nine votes. Shakun got the post of President by getting 28 votes on Saturday. At the same time, Arun got 19 votes. One vote went to Malti Rawat of SP while three votes went unauthorised.
9- Aligarh: BJP candidate from Tala Nagari Aligarh, Mrs. Vijay Singh won by 30 votes. He got 38 votes, while SP-RLD alliance candidate Archana Yadav got eight votes. Smt. Vijay Singh is the son of former CM Kalyan Singh and Etah MP Rajveer Singh Raju Bhaiya. Archana Yadav is the sister of Dharmendra Yadav, former MP of Bandayu and cousin of Akhilesh Yadav.
10- Bareilly: Rashmi Patel of BJP did not get a competition in Bareilly. BJP’s Rashmi Patel won by getting 40 votes. He defeated Vinita Gangwar of Samajwadi Party. Vinita got 19 votes. There were 26 members of SP, but Vineeta got 19 votes. One vote was rejected.
11- Badaun: In Samajwadi Party stronghold Badaun, BJP’s Varsha Yadav defeated SP’s Sunita Shakya by five votes. BJP’s Varsha Yadav got 28 votes and SP’s Sunita Shakya got 23 votes.
12- Sambhal: BJP candidate Dr. Anamika Yadav has been elected as District Panchayat President from Sambhal. BJP candidate Dr. Anamika Yadav won the election of District Panchayat President amidst strong opposition and tussle of Samajwadi Party. He got 22 votes while SP candidate Priya alias Preeti Yadav got 13 votes.
13- Chandauli: Ramkishun Yadav, who was a member of the Samajwadi Party, fell on the feet of the members of the district panchayat on Friday night. Here BJP candidate Dinanath Sharma won by getting 30 votes. Ramkishun’s nephew Tejnarayan Yadav got only five votes. Here in the last 24 years, this is the first victory of the BJP on the post of District Panchayat President.
14- Mahoba: BJP’s JP Anuragi won in Mahoba, famous for the cultivation of betel leaves. JP alone got ten votes out of a total of 14 members. SP’s Mrityunjay could get only four votes. At around 2 pm, all the 14 Zilla Panchayat members had exercised their franchise.

15- Amethi: The magic of Union Minister Smriti Zubin Irani went on in her parliamentary constituency Amethi. Here BJP’s Rajesh Agrahari alias Rajesh Masala cast 31 votes in his account in the 36-member district panchayat. Samajwadi Party’s Shilam Singh had to be satisfied with only four votes. One vote has been cancelled.
16- Auraiya: The lotus double of BJP has fed lotus in Auraiya. Kamal Dohra won the post of District Panchayat President. Kamal Dohra got 13 votes and SP candidate Ravi Tyagi got nine votes.
17- Sitapur: BJP has shown amazing in Sitapur also. BJP’s Shraddha Sagar Gupta has won the district panchayat election here. She got 56 votes while Samajwadi Party’s Anita Rajvanshi had to be satisfied with 23 votes.
18- Siddharthnagar: Sheetal Singh of BJP has registered a huge victory of 35 votes here. BJP’s Sheetal Singh got 40 votes and Samajwadi Party’s Pooja Yadav got five votes.
19- Bijnor: Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate Sakendra Singh achieved great success in the election of District Panchayat in Bijnor. Sakendra defeated SP supported Charanjit Kaur. Sakendra Singh got 30 votes.
20- Hathras: The magic of strong leader Ramveer Upadhyay has gone in Hathras. His former MP wife Seema Upadhyay has won from here. Seema Upadhyay got 13 out of 24 votes, while Samajwadi Party and RLD candidate Shashi Chaudhary got 11 votes.
21- Hardoi: Naresh Aggarwal’s magic has run in Hardoi. In the counting of votes for the election of District Panchayat President, Premavati of Bharatiya Janata Party defeated Munni Devi Gautam of Samajwadi Party by 59 votes. 71 votes were cast in the 72-member Zilla Panchayat. BJP’s Premavati got 65 votes and SP’s Munni Devi Gautam got six votes.
22- Kanpur City: In Kanpur city, BJP candidate Swapnil Varun, daughter of former cabinet minister Kamala Rani Varun, has won by 20 votes. BJP’s Swapnil got 25. Raju Diwakar of Samajwadi Party got five votes and 2 votes became invalid.
23- Kanpur Dehat: Neeraj Rani of BJP has become the District Panchayat President in Kanpur Dehat. BJP-backed Independent candidate Neeraj Rani defeated SP candidate Ram Singh Yadav. Neeraj Rani got 26 votes out of 32 and Ram Singh Yadav got five votes. Here a district panchayat member did not vote. The victorious Neeraj Rani is the wife of Rajendra Singh, brother of MP Devendra Singh Bhole. The SP had control over the district panchayat for two consecutive terms, but this time the SP has lost the seat.
24- Shamli: Struggling hard for the BJP candidate to register victory in Shamli. He got a total of ten votes while RLD-SP alliance candidate Anjali got nine votes. Anjali missed out on becoming the Zilla Panchayat President by just one vote. After Madhu Gurjar’s victory, cabinet minister Suresh Rana and other leaders reached the collectorate and congratulated him.
25- Muzaffarnagar: BJP won Muzaffarnagar with a bumper vote. Dr. Veerpal Nirwal of BJP got 30. On the other hand, Satyendra Balyan of the opposition, who is the third brother of Union Minister Sanjeev Balyan, got only four votes. Nine Zilla Panchayat members did not even cast their vote. During the voting itself, Satyendra Balyan had accused the BJP of election rigging. Apart from this, the workers of BKYU RLD had tried to break the barricading here.
26- Ayodhya: In Ayodhya, BJP’s candidate Roli Singh became the district panchayat president. Roli Singh got 30 votes while SP got only 10 votes. SP members did cross voting. SP members voted for BJP.
27- Barabanki: Lotus blossomed for the first time in Barabanki District Panchayat. Rajarani Rawat became the President. Zilla Panchayat member Rajrani Rawat got 48 votes from Nindura IV and Neha Anand of SP got eight votes. One vote was declared invalid. The members of the SP did the cross voting, 15 members of the SP were elected.
28- Lakhimpur Kheri: The BJP has won the election of District Panchayat President in Lakhimpur Kheri for the second time in a row. In Lakhimpur, BJP candidate Om Prakash Bhargava got 38 votes and SP candidate Anjali Bhargava got 31 votes. Two out of 72 votes were rejected. After winning Omprakash Bhargava, DM Dr Arvind Kumar Chaurasia gave the certificate.
29- Kannauj: BJP-backed independent candidate Priya Shakya captured the post of District Panchayat President. He got 15 out of 28 votes. While SP candidate Shyam Singh Yadav got 13 votes.
30- Farrukhabad: Monika, supported by the BJP, became the president after getting 18 votes. Independent candidate Monika Yadav, supported by BJP, secured the post of District Panchayat President by getting 18 out of 30 votes. SP candidate Subodh Yadav got only 12 votes. After the counting of votes here, District Magistrate Manvendra Singh announced that Monika would get 18 votes and Subodh 12 votes. As soon as his victory was announced, a wave of enthusiasm ran among the supporters. Monika Yadav is the daughter of Narendra Singh Yadav, who was a minister in the SP government. He was made a candidate by BJP MLA Major Sunil Dutt Dwivedi.
31- Maharajganj: BJP’s Ravikant Patel defeated SP candidate Durga Yadav by nine votes in Maharajganj. Patel got 38 votes.
32- Kushinagar: In Kushinagar, BJP’s Savitri Jaiswal defeated SP candidate Rita Yadav by 31 votes by taking 46 votes. Rita got 15 votes.
33- Deoria: BJP candidate Girish Tiwari has defeated SP candidate Shailja Yadav by 31 votes in Deoria. Girish got 42 and Shailja got 11 votes out of total 56 votes. Three votes were rejected.
34- Basti: In Basti district, Sanjay Chaudhary of BJP was elected as District Panchayat President by 39 votes. His nearest rival, SP’s Virendra Choudhary, got just four votes.
35- Mathura: In Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, BJP occupied the post of District Panchayat President. BJP candidate Kishan Singh won by getting 22 votes. Here RLD candidate Rajendra Singh Sikarwar got 11 votes. There were 33 members in total.
36- Kasganj: Ratnesh Kashyap of BJP has been elected as District Panchayat President in Kasganj. He got 14 votes. SP candidate Samarth Yadav had to be satisfied with eight votes. DM CP Singh announced the victory of Ratnesh Kashyap.
37- Firozabad: Harshita Singh of BJP has won in Suhag Nagari Firozabad. He defeated Yadav of Samajwadi Party. Harshita of BJP has won by six votes. He got 18 votes and Ruchi Yadav got 12 votes. Three votes were rejected here.
38- Sultanpur: BJP won from Sultanpur. Usha Singh of BJP has become the District Panchayat President. BJP candidate Usha Singh got 25 votes and independent Archana got 17 votes. If the SP candidate got two votes, then two were invalid.
39- Prayagraj: In Sangamnagari Prayagraj, the BJP has retained the seat of the District Panchayat President. Dr. VK Singh of BJP won by getting 51 votes. SP’s Malti Yadav got 33 votes. Election Officer and District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Khatri has declared the result. He gave a certificate of victory to Dr. VK Singh.
40- Kaushambi: BJP has raised its flag in Kaushambi, the home district of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Yadav. There was a close contest between the BJP and the SP. BJP’s Kalpana Sonkar has registered victory. There are a total of 26 Zilla Panchayat members here. 25 people voted while a member was denied voting due to a case registered against him under serious section. One vote was declared invalid. BJP candidate Kalpana Sonkar got 13 votes and SP candidate Bijma got 11 votes. Here too, some SP leaders created a ruckus alleging irregularities in voting.
41- Fatehpur: BJP has retained its seat in Fatehpur. The political cycle has been such that in the 46-member district panchayat, only 41 votes were in favor of BJP-backed candidate Abhay Pratap Singh and only five votes were in favor of Samajwadi Party’s candidate Sangeetaraj Pasi.
42- Jalaun: In the election for the post of District Panchayat President, BJP candidate Ghanshyam Anuragi has won by 12 votes. SP supported Congress candidate Urmila Sonkar got only six votes. BJP’s state president Swatantra Dev Singh belongs to Jalaun, so everyone’s eyes were on this seat. Out of 25 Zilla Panchayat members, 24 cast their votes. BJP candidate Ghanshyam Anuragi got a total of 18 votes, while Urmila Sonkar got only six votes.
43- Bhadohi: Anirudh Tripathi got 20 votes out of 25 in the district panchayat elections in the carpet city of Bhadohi. Runner-up Amit Singh got four votes while one vote was declared invalid. Independent Anirudh Tripathi declared the winner.
44- Sonbhadra: Radhika Patel, the joint candidate of Apna Dal (S) and BJP, registered a landslide victory. Radhika defeated Jaiprakash Pandey of Samajwadi Party by seven votes. Jayaprakash got 12 votes.
45- Etah: Samajwadi Party has retained its hold on the post of Etah District Panchayat President. SP’s Rekha Yadav won the election here. Rekha got 24 and BJP’s Vinita Yadav got four votes, while two votes were rejected. Rekha Yadav is the wife of former District Panchayat President Jugendra Singh Yadav.
46- Sant Kabir Nagar: There was some tension in Sant Kabir Nagar. Here Balram Yadav of SP defeated Krishna Kumar Chaurasia of BJP by six votes. Balaram got 18 votes and Krishna got 12 votes.
47- Azamgarh: His nose was saved in Azamgarh, the parliamentary constituency of Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav. Here former block chief Vijay Yadav, son of former minister and Sadar MLA Durga Prasad Yadav, won by getting 79 votes out of 84. His rival Sanjay Nishad of BJP got only five votes.
48- Ballia: Son of former minister Ambika Chaudhary, who won the election of District Panchayat member with the support of BSP, won the election of District Panchayat President from Ballia as Samajwadi Party candidate. Anand Chaudhary got 33 and defeated BJP candidate in two ministerial district. BJP candidate Supriya Chaudhary got only 24 votes.
49- Baghpat: Mamta Kishore, who returned to the National Lok Dal after going to the BJP, defeated the BJP candidate in Baghpat by seven votes. Mamta Kishor got 12 votes and BJP’s Babli Devi got seven votes. Here one vote got nullified. This seat was considered the most sensitive after the frenzy of withdrawal of nominations.
50- Pratapgarh: Raghuraj Pratap Singh, an independent MLA from Kunda for 25 consecutive years, showed his mettle in Pratapgarh. His party Jansatta Dal had the support of the entire opposition including the Congress. Madhuri Patel, the candidate of his party Jansatta Dal Loktantrik, won by getting 40 votes. A total of 57 votes were to be cast for the reserved seat of the District Panchayat President, out of which 51 votes were cast. Jansatta Dal Democratic candidate Madhuri Patel got 40 votes. SP candidate Amravati Devi got six votes and BJP candidate Kshama Singh got three votes. In addition, two votes were declared invalid.
51- Jaunpur: It fell in the hands of independent candidate Shrikala. He ousted the SP by securing 43 votes in the 83-member house. Taking a U-turn on the polling day, Apna Dal (S) made it easy for her to win by announcing its support to Srikala. Neelam Singh, daughter-in-law of former MP Harivansh Singh, stood second by getting 28 votes as an independent candidate. With the intention of putting a hat-trick on this seat, the SP finished third.
52- Hapur: BJP supported candidate Rekha Nagar has defeated her nearest rival. A total of 19 votes were cast here, out of which Rekha Nagar got 13 and SP supported candidate Ruchi Yadav got only 6 votes.
53- Hamirpur: Jayanti Rajput, supported by BJP, defeated the candidate supported by Nishad Party by five votes. BJP supported Jayanti Rajput won by getting 11 votes. While Dushyant Singh of Nishad Party got only 6 votes in favor. The Nishad Party candidate accused the district administration of favoritism at the behest of the ruling party and called it the defeat of democracy.
A total of 116 candidates in 53 districts
A total of 116 candidates were in the fray in 53 districts of the Zilla Panchayat President. There was a direct contest between them as there were two candidates each in 46 districts. In most of them, the candidates of BJP and Samajwadi Party were face to face. There was a triangular election in four seats, while there were three seats in which four candidates were contesting. The tug of war between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Samajwadi Party regarding the election had reached its peak.

Already one nomination in 18 districts
State Election Commissioner Manoj Kumar said that there were one candidate each in these districts due to withdrawal of nomination by one candidate each from Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Saharanpur and Bahraich. The presidents of these four districts have been elected unopposed. One nomination each had already taken place in 18 districts. In such a situation, after the deadline for withdrawal of nominations, the presidents of all the concerned districts were also declared elected unopposed. These were Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Moradabad, Agra, Etawah, Lalitpur, Jhansi, Banda, Chitrakoot, Shravasti, Balrampur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Mau and Varanasi.
