Lucknow: On Wednesday, CM Yogi Adityanath will seal the name of the new police chief of UP. The discussion about getting the seal in the name of Mukul Goyal is the fastest. In the meeting of the Union Public Service Commission in Delhi on Tuesday, a panel of three officers was decided regarding the next DGP. Chief Secretary RK Tiwari and DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi were also present in the meeting.
This time also in UP, the seniority list has been given preference in the selection of new DGP. After which Mukul Goyal, a 1987 batch IPS officer posted on central deputation, is at the fore in the race for the new DGP. Apart from these, the name of IPS of this batch and presently DG EOW is Dr. RP Singh. Both the officers also met CM Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday evening.
The name of 1986 batch IPS officer Nasir Kamal, posted on central deputation, is also included in the panel of Union Public Service Commission. Mukul has been posted in the important post of DG law and order in the past, while Dr. RP Singh is currently DG EOW and SIT and has carried out many important investigations.
9 IPS officers including DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi are completing their tenure on 30 June. These include the name of DG Arun Kumar posted on central deputation. Talking about the selection of the new DGP, the names of IPS officers Vishwajit Mohapatra and GL Meena of 1987 batch have been included in the seniority list. 1988 batch IPS officer Dr. RK Vishwakarma, IPS officer DS Chauhan and Anand Kumar of the same batch have also been seen as important contenders for DGP race.
It is worth noting that during the tenure of the present government, Sulkhan Singh, OP Singh and after him Hitesh Chandra Awasthi also got the opportunity to become DGP on the basis of seniority. On June 30, 21 gazetted officers, including 9 IPS officers, will retire. These include 12 PPS officers. Apart from two DGs, IPS officers who have completed their service include IG Rajesh Pandey and IG JK Shukla, DIG Dilip Kumar, Sadhna Goswami and suspended DIG Dinesh Chandra Dubey.
