Lucknow. In the election for the post of District Panchayat President, which is considered to be the semi-finals of the power of the state, 16 District Panchayat Presidents of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who are in power, have been elected unopposed. No one has filed nomination papers against them. On Saturday, nominations were being held from 11 am to 3 pm. BJP has taken a huge lead in the election of District Panchayat President. Out of the total 75 districts, of the 18 districts where the panchayat president is set to be elected unopposed, 17 will be from the BJP and only one from the Samajwadi Party. Now after the withdrawal of nominations on June 29, the election will be announced unopposed. A total of 164 candidates filled their papers in the nomination held on Saturday. Out of these, the nomination papers of six candidates were rejected in the scrutiny. After the withdrawal of nominations on June 29, the remaining seats will go to polls on July 3.
According to the State Election Commission, the 18 seats where uncontested election is fixed include Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Amroha, Moradabad, Agra, Etawah, Lalitpur, Jhansi, Banda, Chitrakoot, Shravasti, Balrampur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Bulandshahr, Varanasi and Mau Huh. Except Etawah, others will remain with the BJP. The announcement of the unopposed election will be done after the withdrawal of nominations on June 29. Of the 57 seats to be contested, 41 are in which there will be a direct contest between two candidates. There are 11 seats where there will be a triangular contest. Maximum five candidates are trying their luck in Bhadohi. Four candidates each in the four seats are in the fray.
The six candidates whose nominations were canceled include one each from Muzaffarnagar, Amroha, Varanasi and Gorakhpur and two from Banda. Samajwadi Party’s Chanda Yadav’s nomination paper rejected in Varanasi. On June 29, the nomination time is from 11 am to 3 pm. After this the number of candidates remaining in the fray will be final. After the unopposed election, the remaining seats will go to polls on July 3 from 11 am to 3 pm. The results will be declared on the same day after counting of votes.
BJP’s Manju Bhadauria from Agra, Mamta Tyagi from Ghaziabad, Dr. Shefali Singh from Moradabad, Dr. Antul Tewatia from Bulandshahr, Kailash Niranjan from Lalitpur, Manoj Rai from Mau, Ashok Jatav from Chitrakoot, Amit Chaudhary from Gautam Budh Nagar, Dadan from Shravasti Mishra, Sadhna Singh from Gorakhpur, Aarti Tiwari from Balrampur, Pawan Kumar Gautam from Jhansi, Ghanshyam Mishra from Gonda, Gaurav Chaudhary from Meerut, Sunil Patel from Banda, Poonam Maurya from Varanasi and Lalit Tanwar from Amroha have been elected as District Panchayat President. The Samajwadi Party has been able to save its stronghold Etawah, where no one has filed nominations against Akhilesh Yadav’s cousin Abhishek Yadav alias Anshu.
21 year old Aarti Tiwari from Balrampur, Amit Chaudhary of BJP from Gautam Budh Nagar, Manoj Rai from Mau, Sadhna Singh from Gorakhpur, Ashok Jatav from Chitrakoot, Pawan Kumar Gautam from Jhansi, Ghanshyam Mishra from Gonda, Daddan Mishra from Shravasti, BJP from Bulandshahr No one has filed nomination against Dr. Antul Teotia, State Panchayati Raj Minister Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh’s home district, Moradabad, Dr. Shaifali Singh, Gaurav Chaudhary from Meerut, Mamta Tyagi from Ghaziabad and Kailash Niranjan from Lalitpur. Here the unopposed election of BJP candidates has been decided.
Apart from this, there are some districts where a large number of nominations have been filed. The joint candidate of BJP and Apna Dal is in fray in Jaunpur. From here, Shrikala Singh, wife of Bahubali Dhananjay Singh and Neelam, daughter-in-law of former MP Harivansh Singh, have also filed their nominations. Here two candidates have filed their nominations from Apna Dal while Nishi Yadav from Samajwadi Party has filed their nominations. Neelam Singh and Shrikala Singh are independent candidates. Four candidates are in the fray from Pratapgarh and three from Unnao. Arun Singh has also filed his nomination from Unnao against BJP’s official candidate Shakun Singh. In Ayodhya, BJP’s Roli Singh and Samajwadi Party’s Indu Sen Yadav filed their nominations.
A total of 3050 Zilla Panchayat members were elected during the three-tier panchayat elections of Uttar Pradesh. Of these, 747 of the Samajwadi Party, 666 of the Bharatiya Janata Party, 322, of the Bahujan Samaj Party, 77 of the Congress, 64 of the Aam Aadmi Party and 1174 independent candidates won the election. Now unopposed election of 17 out of 75 district panchayat presidents has been decided. Out of which 16 are from BJP and one from Samajwadi Party. Now out of 75, the winner will be decided after elections in 58 districts. In which the BJP and Samajwadi Party are in the main fight.
