Dehradun. In view of the monsoon season in Uttarakhand, the government has decided to deploy one helicopter each in Garhwal and Kumaon divisions. The aim is that in the event of a natural calamity during the monsoon, immediate relief and rescue operations can be started. For this, the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) has invited tenders. Now its technical and financial bids will be opened soon. It is believed that after the completion of the tender process, between June 10 and 15, these helicopters will be deployed in both the divisions.
During the monsoon season, the possibility of natural calamities increases in the state. During this there is a possibility of cloudburst and landslides. In such disasters, the connectivity of the affected areas often gets disrupted, which hampers the relief and rescue operations. In view of this, the government has decided to deploy one helicopter each in both the divisions of the state. Through these, immediate help can be provided to the affected and if needed, the injured can be brought to major hospitals for treatment.
Last year also, the government had implemented this system, but then no company showed interest in helicopter operation for Kumaon division. Due to this, only one helicopter could be used in relief and rescue operations last year. This year too, the government has entrusted the responsibility of deploying helicopters at both places to Yucada.
Keeping in view the situation of the previous year, the emphasis this time is that the heli companies should tender for helicopter operations in both the divisions. Chief Executive Officer, Yucada Dr. Ashish Chauhan said that the tenders of helicopter companies have been invited. Technical bids are to be opened on June 5 and financial bids on May 7. After this the helicopter will be deployed in both the divisions after selecting the company.
