Kotdwar: An elephant was attacked by an elderly man who took fodder in the forest of Laldhang range of Lansdowne forest division. The forest department team reached the spot as soon as the incident was reported. But, by the time the old man had died.
The incident is around 10:30. Shivdutt (74) resident of Jaidevpur under ward number 36 in Kotdwar Municipal Corporation area went to take fodder in the forest of Laldhang range adjoining the village like other days. Meanwhile, an elephant attacked him in the forest. The other person present with Shivdutt escaped from the spot and escaped and informed about the incident at Chilarkhal forest post. The personnel present in the outpost informed the incident at Laldhang post, after which the team led by Forest Officer Pradeep Uniyal reached the spot. By the time the team reached the spot, the elephant had returned from the spot to the forest. Here, after getting the information, Councilor Jagdish Mehra also reached the spot along with other ward residents. Later, the body was brought to Shivdutt’s residence, where the police sent the body of the deceased to the Panchayatnama for post-mortem. It is also very important to mention here that on the evening of May 22, the elephant had killed two including a woman in the Laldhang range itself.
