Tanakpur: The work of extraction of minerals in the down stream of Sharda river has stopped. The Forest Development Corporation earned a revenue of 17 crores by clearing four lakh 35 thousand cubic meters against the target of four lakh 50 thousand cubic meters.
The evacuation took place till 5 pm on the last day on Monday, after which work was stopped for this season. This time due to the stubborn attitude of the Forest Department, mining clearance could not be done from the up stream of Sharda river. The work started from the down stream on 13 January. It had to be stopped due to the river flooding in the middle and due to Kovid. DLM Harish Pal said that this time the target was to clear four lakh 50 thousand cubic meters. In relation to this, the clearance of 15 thousand cubic meters was left. Revenue of Rs 17 crore has been received from 4 lakh 35 thousand cubic meter clearance. This time two lakh cubic meters of RBM was given for the construction of the canal from India to Nepal. More than 400 vehicles were involved in the mining operation. Here, after the closure of mining work, workers working from different districts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand have also started returning to their homes. Most of the laborers had returned to their homes after the second wave of Kovid arrived.
