Dehradun. Uttarakhand received rain, snowfall and hailstorm for the second consecutive day. In the midst of the weather, there is definitely relief from the heat and forest fires. However, hailstorms have damaged fruits and vegetables. Kedarnath also got six inches of fresh snow. The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of light rain and snow on the peaks at some places in the state for the next two days.
The higher peaks including Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham received snowfall on Wednesday, while reconstruction work in Kedarnath Dham was also affected. In Gopeshwar, Joshimath and some areas of the Ghat, there was a heavy hailstorm after the rain in the evening. There was intermittent snowfall at Badrinath Dham, Hemkund Sahib.
On the other hand, a series of snowfall started in Kedarnath on Tuesday, which continued throughout the day on Wednesday. High altitude places including Tungnath, Madhyameshwar, Panvalikantha also received snowfall throughout the day.
The weather took a turn from Tuesday night in Kumaon. Except the Terai and Bhabar, there was hailstorm and rain in the entire mountainous region. In Nainital, the temperature dropped as the hail fell with a shower. Khaliatop and Chilakkedar, located at the top of Munsiyari, have received snow twice this week.
Drizzle with strong winds in Dehradun
In Doon on Wednesday, the process of sun-shade continued from morning. From the afternoon, there was a light drizzle with strong wind in the city. The temperature also declined due to the rain late on Tuesday. On the other hand, heavy hailstorm occurred in Jaunsar-Bawar including Chakrata in the afternoon. White sheets were spread on the fields and roads with hail. Due to this, apple, apricot, plum and other fruit trees have suffered a lot in the area. Strong winds and hail storms in low-lying areas also damaged mango and lychee blossoms.
