Agra . Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested the main accused who allegedly shot and killed Sub-Inspector Prashant Yadav on 24 March in Khajuli, Agra. The accused was arrested after being injured in a brief encounter with the police.
The sub-inspector, who was trying to settle the dispute between the two brothers over the harvesting of crops, was shot and killed.
Superintendent of Police (City) Botre Rohan Pramod said that while acting on a secret information, barricading was carried out in the area on Saturday evening in the name of checking vehicles by a team of police.
During this, the suspect Vishwanath was seen coming towards the police team. When he was asked to stop, he took out the desi katta and opened fire on the police. During the retaliation by the police, both the legs of the accused were injured.
He is admitted to the Primary Health Center for treatment. The SP said that the police had recovered two indigenous weapons and a bike from him.
On Wednesday evening, Vishwanath allegedly shot at SI’s neck while chasing him in Nehra village.
The police had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 on any information for Vishwanath’s arrest and also decided to implement the stringent National Security Act against the accused.
