A massive road accident took place in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. A car and a truck collided head-on on the Kanpur-Sagar National Highway in Bidhnu police station area. Three people lost their lives in this accident. Two people were seriously injured. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. The police reached the spot and identified the dead bodies.
Police said that there were five people in the car. All the people were members of the same family and residents of Fatehpur district. The deceased have been identified as 85-year-old Habib, 45-year-old Husnara and 34-year-old Pankaj Verma. Pankaj was driving the car. Among the injured, the old man’s son and 20-year-old grandson were seriously injured.
Truck driver absconds after the accident
Giving information about this accident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ravindra Kumar said that all the people in the car were going to Kanpur. Near Madhavbagh in Bidhanu, the driver of the car started overtaking another vehicle, when the car collided with a truck coming from the front. The accident was so severe that the car was blown to pieces after colliding with the truck. There was a long traffic jam on the Kanpur-Sagar National Highway. After the accident, the driver of the truck fled from the spot.
The injured were referred to another hospital
After the road accident, the local people took the injured to the nearest hospital. Where three people were declared dead and two people were seriously injured. The injured people have been identified as 52-year-old Hashim and 20-year-old Aman. The injured have now been referred to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital in Kanpur city. Police is busy searching for the absconding truck driver.
