Gwalior Petrol pumps of Bhind, Morena, Shivpuri and Datia of Gwalior zone bordering Uttar Pradesh are dying. The reason, the difference of petrol prices in the two states by about Rs 10 per liter. The effect of this is that the drivers passing through here do not take oil in Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, people from those districts bordering Uttar Pradesh go to fill petrol and diesel. Due to this, petrol pumps are being closed along the highway or their income is negligible.
For example, the Chila border is just 15 km from Datia. It comes in Uttar Pradesh. There are long queues of vehicles at the petrol pump. Vehicles coming from Jhansi fill oil here and the people of Datia also go to fill petrol. The second example is the boundary of the bhind ends on the foof. Etawah is also 12-15 km away from here. Saini of UP is also 40 km from Morena. New petrol is not opening due to large difference in petrol prices. Older pumps are on the verge of closure.
Significantly, in Uttar Pradesh, the price of diesel is Rs 77.84 per liter while in MP it is Rs 85.98 per liter. There is a difference of eight rupees 14 paise in the price of diesel in both states. Similarly, the price of petrol in UP is Rs 86.38 per liter and in Madhya Pradesh it is Rs 95.65 per liter. That is, there is a difference of nine rupees 27 paise in both the states.
