New Delhi. Former Pakistan batsman Rameez Raja has recently praised the Indian cricket team for their outstanding performance in the Australia series where they won the Test series 2–1 last month. It was India’s second consecutive Test win against the hosts. In the absence of captain Virat Kohli, Team India, led by Ajinkya Rahane, retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the second consecutive time, winning the Melbourne and Brisbane Tests.
Rameez praised Ajinkya Rahane, who struggled after losing to Adelaide in the team and being all out for 36 runs. Rameez Raja said in an interview on YouTube, “I really like Virat Kohli, because he has left everyone behind and provided an aggression. He has a lot of contribution in this team, but Ajinkya was given to India at that time. Rahane was needed, as there was a need to bring peace within the team after being all out for 36 at Adelaide. He handled it really well. ”
He added, “I give the most credit to coach Ravi Shastri, because after being all out for 36, the mind comes under pressure, but to elevate the team and when superstars are not even available, Even then, he created a good atmosphere in the dressing room that we are still no less than any team and then it is not easy to explain the situation to the players. The new players who came in also did really well. ”
Significantly, the Indian team lost the first Test match by 8 wickets, in which the embarrassing thing was that India was piled on 36 runs. After this the team was not accompanied by captain Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami. Despite this, India defeated the Kangaroo team by 8 wickets in the second Test match and equaled the series. The Indian team drew the third Test match with the injured players, and in the fourth Test match, the young players won the series by 3 wickets and won the series by 2-1.
