Dehradun. Uttarakhand Congress President Pritam Singh said that in view of the election year, the State Government had to take a decision to abolish the District Development Authorities. The result of the thoughtless decision is that the government was forced to come on the backfoot.
Speaking to the media at the state Congress headquarters Rajiv Bhavan on Friday, Pritam Singh said that people were opposing the government’s decision to create District Development Authority in the hill and rural areas. The Congress strongly raised it in two-three times. After this, a committee was formed in this matter on the instructions of the Speaker.
Now, under the guise of the committee’s recommendations, the Chief Minister has spoken of abolishing the authorities. However, the government has not yet issued the order. He said that the central government should give bonus to Uttarakhand. Provision should be made for this in the Union Budget. Uttarakhand is providing environmental services to the country. Environmental protection is not the responsibility of Uttarakhand alone.
The state Congress president alleged that an attempt was being made to discredit the peasant movement. He said that since 62 days a conspiracy is being done to defame the agitating farmers in a peaceful manner. He alleged that the central government remained a puppet in the hands of a few capitalists. For this reason, agriculture is adamant on not canceling the laws. Described the events of 26 January as unfortunate.
